When the listener listens to music with lyrics they are then singing the lyrics to themselves. The voice of the singer is disconnected from their actual voice. As we are unable to fully create the cords of music we imagine our voices (ie emotions) as the instruments and the singer together, it creates this higher being within music, that can be conjuncted with the lyrics that is then sung to ourselves, to teach us, to sooth us, to make us feel not alone. In music we create another self, an unattainable-self of fleeting nature, that we push back on ourselves, so that that being in the music, we shall call it hymium, can attempt to become us, to subsume us.
Music is not a method of changing our states, it is voyeurism looking at our own emotional state.
