Wink When You See Me

How still alive my verses are,
with perpetually awakening day.
The awning of sun but a buttress
to the shadey night of brooding
blank walls, an epic scene of
limestone halls.  The pediment of
effigy to past Roman heroes,
a similar sepulchre as marble
cast to dust and dark eyelids
forming the celestial sphere
that encages Earth.  Both trapped
and final, endlessly in discovery,
moving shadows in a convex forest.
